“I don’t need you to walk me home, idiot. You live closer to the Tenth than I do.” Gokudera grumbles his lie in his usual manner of denying any advances of friendship between them in front of the Tenth. It’s become something of a habit to give a little push back, a little sass. Keeping Takeshi on his toes is fun, and if he can say something to make him lose face, or catch him off guard in front of the Tenth, the more victorious he’ll feel. It’s a competition, after all, for the boss’s favor, even though he’s certain they’re both comfortable with their placement in the family.
He smiles as he gives a little wave to Tsuna, “I’ll text you when I get home safely!” And the boss nods while he’s dealing with Lambo whining about not wanting to go to bed because he’s going to be some great hitman and finally kill Reborn blah blah blah…
Gokudera lights up a cigarette once they’re outside. “You better not be inviting me back to your place.” He says, then intentionally pauses before muttering, “because I was going to have you at mine.”
They can stop by Yamamoto’s on the way, but Gokudera’s been planning. He knows exactly what he intends to do, where he’s going to have the other boy, and how. He was waiting for the right moment to invite him, gathering his courage.
