Unrequited Love?
Kaijou and Seirin had just had their first practice match, which was shaping up to be a tradition of sorts. This time, Kaijou had gone to Seirin. The gym was nice, newer then Kaijou's but maybe not as big.
He was breathing heavily, but smiling broadly. It always felt good to play, even if it was just a practice match and they weren't going all out. After all, he wanted to keep some of his new tricks up his sleeves, just like he was sure Kagami and Kuroko were hiding some of their new tricks too. This year's match had ended in a draw. Better than last year's practice match, which had ended in Kaijou's loss by two points.
Just thinking about Kuroko made Kise look over to the Seirin team, focusing in on the smaller boy.
For awhile now Kise had realized that he had feelings for Kuroko. Kise had looked up to Kuroko for awhile, but it wasn't really until after the Winter Cup that Kise realized he was probably in love with Kuroko.
He took a towel that one of the first years offered him. "Thanks," he said absently. He scrubbed at his face, his thoughts racing. He had been thinking about Kuroko a lot lately, and seeing him only brought those thoughts back to the surface, only pushed aside when the game had begun. Now with the game over he couldn't focus. The warm glow in his chest that came whenever he thought about Kuroko was back with a vengeance.
The Kaijou team was gathering their things and getting ready to board the bus. He told the first year that he'd be along in a bit and began to head over to the Seirin team.
"Kurokocchi~" he called out. No time like the present, he thought. He didn't know if Kuroko would return his feelings, but he was hopeful. The time Kuroko had cheered him on while he went up against Haizaki stood out in his mind.
"Kurokocchi! You got a minute?"
no subject
"Depends on how personal."

"Was it not obvious? I felt like I didn't hide my feelings very well back then."
A small clue as to when it happened.

Kise wants to wrap his arms around Kuroko, but being naked would lead to awkward situations. He's pretty sure Kuroko doesn't want to feel his dick, flaccid or not, pressed up against him.
"He is very handsome," he said conversationally as he finished scrubbing the other's back. He got the shower head and sprayed Kuroko's back until all the bubbles were gone. "Though, maybe not the most handsome. Akashi is probably the most traditionally handsome out of all of us." He smirks and gets on the stool next to Kuroko. "I'm the prettiest, of course."
no subject
"If I was being generous, I could say he was my first love." It feels weird to admit it to Kise of all people, but he might feel weird saying this to anyone. "I also had a small crush on Akashi-kun -- though even more so than Aomine-kun, they were probably very strong feelings of admiration."
no subject
"Yeah, that's how I feel about Aominecchi too. I guess you could say he was my light too. Or maybe hero is more accurate." And something he needed to work on overcoming because he intended to win against him this year.
He hums as Kuroko washes back and starts to work on his hair, face, and chest, trying very hard not to think of a fantasy he once had that started like this. "Aominecchi's personality doesn't attract a lot of girls, especially the type he likes, though." He lets out a little laugh and looks over his shoulder. "He has more male admirers than girls, but Momoicchi can't figure out if it's romantic or hero-worship. Too bad for him."
no subject
He flicks a cloud of bubbles at Kise's nose when he looks back. "I feel bad for Momoi-san having to deal with his rotten personality. She deserves better."
no subject
He sticks out his tongue when his nose is flicked. "She really does. But under the rottenness, there's a good guy. It really depends on the day." He paused and tilts his head. "I think he and Haizaki had a fight, like a fist fight. Something happened and I can't get Aominecchi to tell me anything about it." And he sure as hell isn't talking to Haizaki because he's the biggest jerk he knows.
no subject
"Oh, of course he wouldn't tell you." He clicks his tongue in a show of annoyance to their gangly, ganguro friend. "Haizaki-kun planned on attacking you after your match with him." His fingers curl around the washcloth, thinking about what could've been. "I don't condone what Aomine-kun did, but... I would've been devastated if something had happened to you."
no subject
He didn't really have an opinion on Aomine's violent actions. He figures it was the last option, not because Aomine is a pacifist underneath the perverted grouch persona he puts up, and only partially because of Aomine's laziness which is second only to Murasakibara's. But because it's Haizaki.
He fills a bucket with water and dumps it over himself to get off all the soapy bubbles. "That means a lot, Kurokocchi. Thank you."
He waits for Kuroko to move because if he stands now, his butt will be in Kuroko's face. Anyone who liked men would have to agree it's fantastic butt, but Kise isn't a barbarian and doesn't want to stick in someone's face if they don't want it. "Ready for the onsen?"
no subject
"I'll finish cleaning off first, please go ahead," he offers as he shifts back over to his own stool and starts making himself into a bubble mountain.
no subject
He was very proud of himself for being normal about the entire thing. No awkward erections at all.
Putting his towel over his shoulder again, he padded out to the onsen. The cool night air was mostly driven away by the steam coming off the water. He stepped in and wadded over to the one of the sides by a big rock he could climb up on if he got overheated. Once he found a seat he liked, he settled and let out a content sigh.
no subject
He takes his time making sure he's squeaky clean before using his low presence to quietly dip into the water without alerting the other boy. Two or three low 'thonk's echo through the springs, the tell-tale sound of the shishi-odoshi crashing against the rocks as it empties, before Kuroko lets out a pleased sigh of his own. "I'm glad we're getting the onsen to ourselves before everyone returns. It's much more peaceful."
no subject
"Yeah," he said slowly opening his eyes to look at the clear night sky. "Both of our teams can be pretty rowdy. At least you don't have to translate for you captain when he yells." Kise, somehow, became the unoffical Hayakawa translator.
Which completely Kuroko's fault because now Kise cares about more people than he wants to. He has reasons for wanting to keep his social circle small. "I wonder who'd come in second." He sits up, and looks towards the doors to see if someone will join them soon. "It's hard to believe we came that far ahead."
no subject
"It's because Kise-kun made us rush through it," he teases. "Seirin's last test of courage was much more chaotic... there were strange dolls, telephones ringing, will-o-wisps, collapsing ceilings, and Kagami-kun fainted twice."
In retrospect, maybe it was nice this time around was so calm.
no subject
"Whoopsie," Kise said with an unrepentant smile. "At least I didn't faint." Scream and cling to Kuroko like a small child? Sure. But hey, he didn't faint! He can totally lord that over Kagami.
"I wonder if they put dog masks on to scare Kagamicchi." He stands, feeling the need to move a little. He lets out a yawn as he stretchs his arms over his head. "But I'm glad it's just us. Who knew first years could be so uppity?"
no subject
"Sadly, that would work on him," he sighs, pitying his pathetic light. On the topic of first years, Kuroko gets a shimmer in his eyes. The group that came on the trip was surely larger than he recalled from their previous matches, but he hasn't had the time to learn everyone's names - not when they were going through grueling training. "Did Kaijou receive a lot of new members? We had over fifty prospective new members during recruitment. In the end, only two remained, but it's still strange to think I'm a senpai now."
no subject
But that's probably because they were an insular unit that no one dared to approach. Now that they're on their own, they're apparently more approachable.
Again, more of Kuroko's power of friendship at work. Damn it.
"We had about that much. Thirty stayed, mostly to be in a club and hang with their friends, but a few made third and second strings, four are bench warmers, and one took Kasamatsu-senpai's place as starting Point Guard. He's an utter brat."
As if Kise has any room to speak. "A few have attached themselves to me, including the brat. Mostly he's there to be annoying on purpose, to me and his twin, who's the first string small forward." He looked over at Kuroko. "It is weird having people look up to you."
no subject
Kuroko brings a hand forward to cover a light laugh at Kise's attitude. "It sounds like Kasamatsu-san would relate to your struggles right now." But he nods. "I do agree with that sentiment... I've been helping to train Yagi-kun. He's certainly not as talented as you, but it feels a bit nostalgic."
no subject
He thought back during their matches against each other, trying to remember if a first had followed Kuroko around like his trio of first years and pain in the butt.
"Which one was he?" he asked, turning to look Kuroko, then he slipped, flailing his arms as he fell forward, landing ontop of Kuroko.
no subject
Yagi had indeed been trailing after Kuroko for the better part of the day and would've stood out as the one with the least grasp of basketball fundamentals, but Kuroko has been patiently mentoring him.
"He was the nervous brune-- gahck--!"
Crushed under a naked Kise was not how he expected this conversation to go - he unintentionally wraps an arm around the taller boy as he tries to steady himself against the rocks now jabbing into his side. "Kise-kun- heavy-"
no subject
So, there they were, standing in the middle of hot spring, Kise naked and certain parts of his anatomy taking notice of being in close proximity of a cute boy attached to him. "Fuck," he groaned and gently pushed Kuroko back before parts of him became too... too much everything. His brain going 'oh shit, oh shit' and convinced Kuroko had noticed his body's reaction.
And then he ducked under the water, covering himself. Half tempted to drown himself while he was down there.
no subject
"Ah..." His face is rather red at this point, but is it from embarrassment or just the springs? He dips back into the water and calls out to him. "Kise-kun, you're going to overheat like that."
no subject
"I'm good," he said. Because despite thinking of everything gross, he's sprung wood.
Why now? He did so good when he was washing Kuroko's back, and now an accidental hug and now he has a boner? How the hell is that fair?
He looks up at Kuroko, biting his lips. "My stamina's better than yours." But he should probably get out. Except his towel is out of reach. He shifts his eyes over to it, pouting a little at it.
no subject
"It's probably best to get out before you faint," he says casually, trying to give him an easy out, his own head swimming from the heat.
