Unrequited Love?

Kaijou and Seirin had just had their first practice match, which was shaping up to be a tradition of sorts. This time, Kaijou had gone to Seirin. The gym was nice, newer then Kaijou's but maybe not as big. 

 

He was breathing heavily, but smiling broadly. It always felt good to play, even if it was just a practice match and they weren't going all out. After all, he wanted to keep some of his new tricks up his sleeves, just like he was sure Kagami and Kuroko were hiding some of their new tricks too. This year's match had ended in a draw. Better than last year's practice match, which had ended in Kaijou's loss by two points.  

 

Just thinking about Kuroko made Kise look over to the Seirin team, focusing in on the smaller boy. 

 

For awhile now Kise had realized that he had feelings for Kuroko. Kise had looked up to Kuroko for awhile, but it wasn't really until after the Winter Cup that Kise realized he was probably in love with Kuroko. 

 

He took a towel that one of the first years offered him. "Thanks," he said absently. He scrubbed at his face, his thoughts racing. He had been thinking about Kuroko a lot lately, and seeing him only brought those thoughts back to the surface, only pushed aside when the game had begun. Now with the game over he couldn't focus. The warm glow in his chest that came whenever he thought about Kuroko was back with a vengeance.

 

The Kaijou team was gathering their things and getting ready to board the bus. He told the first year that he'd be along in a bit and began to head over to the Seirin team. 

 

"Kurokocchi~" he called out. No time like the present, he thought. He didn't know if Kuroko would return his feelings, but he was hopeful. The time Kuroko had cheered him on while he went up against Haizaki stood out in his mind. 

 

"Kurokocchi! You got a minute?"

He is now also sending a scolding text to Akashi to not back up Kise!!

(Akashi responds with a He's not wrong.)

Kise doesn't respond for another few hours, as he and Akashi are busy enjoying the tea ceremony and then find other activities to do.

Then it comes to dinner time, and Kise sends a picture of his food; they're having hot pot.

Golden Week food tastes better for some reason.

Kuroko will remember this betrayal!

It's probably because you're on vacation. It looks good.

He responds with a picture of his own dinner.



I have a feeling I'll be tired of seafood by the end of my trip.

Yeah, you probably will. Too bad it makes up a lot of Japanese cuisine =P

After that, it's radio silence from him as he and Akashi continue their day together.

It's especially hard when my grandmother is very excited about her hometown local specialties.

He can't say no to her...

In the morning, at much-too-early-for-vacation 9AM, Kuroko sends this image.

Kise sleeps through the first notification. It's about eleven when he responds

Aw! They're so cute! I bet they were begging for food.

What are you doing up so early?

[misdirects]

The ferry departs at 8AM. I'm very sleepy.

The next picture he sends is of him dozing on the steps of a shrine, surrounded by cats, a couple loafing on his lap and one perched on his shoulder.

Aw!! That's adorable!

And he saves it to his photos and makes it the profile pic for Kuroko's number.

What are you doing today?

I'm stuck on the island until mid-afternoon, so I'll be busy with the cats.

What are you up to with Akashi-kun?

Akashicchi has some stuff this morning with his student council he's doing via skype, so I'm just hanging out in my pjs in his HUGE bed. I had brunch by his fancy French chef.

After he's done with his stuff we're going horse back riding, and then we're going to a steakhouse.

So diligent to work even during vacation.

Oh, you'll get to meet Yukimaru. Give a pet from me.

I think he's addicted to work sometimes lol. He likes to be busy.

I'm excited! Akashicchi says he's a lot bigger than I imagine. I'll be riding one of Yukimaru's stablemates (I'm not sure if that's the right word) Akashicchi said he had one picked out for me. I'll send you pictures!

It's a good thing you're there to distract him from working the entirety of Golden Week.

He sends a picture of him with a cat sitting in his lap, helping it raise its paw like a cheering motion.

Very cute! Where's Nigou btw? Did you leave him a friend?

After that, he's getting dressed for horseback riding. It's a causual ride, but 'causual' in the Akashi household is not causual in the Kise household.

And Akashi insisted that he wear 'proper attire' so he dressed up like he's riding for a show. He sends Kuroko a picture of himself, Akashi, Yukimaru, and another horse that's a pretty gray color.

This is Shirogane! Akashicchi says he's very friendly.

This is followed by a picture from Akashi where Shirogane is nuzzling a laughing Kise.

Nigou is rotating between Fukuda-kun, Kawahara-kun, and Furihata-kun for the duration of break.

He did have to take a moment to admire the fit on both Akashi and Kise - very annoying that riding apparel is very aesthetically pleasing on two very attractive people. Power couple, indeed.

He smiles at the one with Shirogane nuzzling.

Is the name a coincidence or did Akashi-kun name it after our old coach?

He's named after his color, as it's an older word for silver.

Akashicchi is fond of naming things after the color white and white things, I think.

Making your captain babysit for you? How devious!!

Akashi's birthday as in winter, so perhaps this is his wintery side manifesting.

Nigou is a team dog, after all - he enjoys spending time with everyone. But I think I'll formally adopt him when we graduate.

He seems fond of the color white too. It's a nice contrast with his cherry-red hair.

Oh? Huh. I thought he was yours since he's basically your son.

A few hours later.

I fell off the horse the first time I tried to climb on. =(

But I managed to figure it out. Took me longer than it usually does. Akashicchi said it was because Shirogane was just really excited to go out.

Did you only think that because he's named after me?

He is a little amused at the idea that Kise didn't take immediately to it.

I hope you don't bruise too much from the fall. Perhaps Shirogane wanted to impress you.

Yes. I thought you named him.

So is he, but even his ability to learn by observing has limits. If his body can't do it, like some gymnastics, then he can't do it. And apparently, this includes things that involve riding animals.

I think I have a bruise on my butt. Akashicchi's making fun of me for it =( but he also promised to kiss it later. So =P

Koganei-senpai was the one who named Nigou, actually. Though, I did find him, so I feel a little responsible for him.

Also, TMI, Kise-kun.

huh. Didn't know that.

=P He actually won't. We're taking our time with sex, much to Aonimecchi's annoyance, I think he's trying to live vicariously through me since he's still single. Though, while Akashicchi can't tell jokes, he IS capable of some double entendre that makes me do some double takes.

We're having a picnic dinner now.

I always did think Akashi-kun had more of a sense of humor than I did. And Aomine-kun only has himself to blame for absolutely no progress on his front.

You can make jokes, even if your humor is very dry.

He does! He just needs to grow a pair and ask Kagamicchi out!

As most of my reading is shounen jump, I'll have to take your word for it.
